Bimal has over 23 years of experience working with a wide range of children with special needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Developmental Delay.

Bimal is qualified to assess and diagnose children with Autism, ADHD and developmental disabilities. He is highly experienced in planning individualised programs for children with special needs.

After graduating from Monash University with an Honours Degree in Psychology, Bimal began his working career as a special education teacher with M.I.N.D.S.. This experience laid the foundation for him to learn about the many and diverse conditions children with special needs can have, including developmental and learning difficulties.

He enjoyed teaching and helping children with special needs and decided to further his education and training. With a Masters in hand, and having worked in the different special schools (e.g. Metta School and A.P.S.N), he joined K.K. Women’s & Children’s Hospital (KKH), Child Development Unit, as an Educational Psychologist. At CDU he played an instrumental role in program development and training for the diverse range of conditions seen in the department.  Bimal also played a key role where parent training was concerned where he was influential in conducting parent workshops.   When Bimal left CDU it was to open a private practice.

In 2007 Bimal became one of the first RDI® Program Certified Consultants in this region and has supervised Consultants-in-Training. The RDI® Program has been a powerful intervention approach enabling Bimal to educate many families on autism from a developmental perspective. Bimal has been able to use the RDI® Program to support individuals with other conditions too.

Over the years the experience and knowledge Bimal has gained working with children with autism, and other conditions, has reinforced his firm belief that certain core issues and behavior can be better remediated from a neurological paradigm rather than taking a behavioural approach.

Bimal welcomes the opportunity to speak at schools, to parents, and organisations on Autism, related conditions and various interventions, including the RDI® Program. He is a keen advocate for public education and has been a keynote speaker at regional conferences. For over 10 years he lectured on topics such as Autism, ADHD, Child Psychology and various intervention strategies. Clients he has conducted training workshops for include Ministry of Education, Polytechnics, National Library Board and various schools. The training he delivers has been well received by lecturers, teachers, students and parents as it is based on current intervention strategies and research.
